Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  Once I have consigned my asset with OIG is there any way to sever the agreement and have my assets returned?

A:  Yes, the contract may be severed but as the Auction Consignment Contract states there may be financial consequences.  It is imperative that the contract is understood prior to being executed to prevent undesirable consequences.  To sever the contract contact the OIG Auction Clerk by e-mail at auctionclerk@oig.com and follow the instructions provided, please do not call with this request, OIG needs it in writing.

Q:  Why are there financial consequences for severing the consignment?

A:  Auctioneers do a great deal of preparation to ensure the best possible financial outcome.  One facet of this is item preparation which is performed as the item is received at the auction facility.  Another valuable facet is marketing the auction which greatly impacts auction participation.  All this preparation incurs cost and when the assets are removed prior to the auction it impacts the overall draw to the sale.

Q: Are there fees to consign asset(s) for auction?

A: Yes, auction proceeds are based on the agreed upon consignor / consignee split (this information can be found in your signed OIG Consignment for Auction Contract) expenses are deducted from sales total after the auction has concluded. The full detail of the auction transaction(s) will be provided to you in an itemized report when the funds are disbursed. As stated above it is imperative that you fully understand the terms and conditions in the OIG Auction Consignment Agreement, if you do not contact the OIG Auction Clerk for clarification.
